The Webers were taking a cool-down break before they were needed to take tons of photos for the day. You can them on Facebook Weber Photography
We love how Dapper Day brings out the true vintage clothing. The girl on the left was actually pregnant, and wore the maternity smock that was the height of fashion in the 1950’ for expectant mothers. Ray’s sister was expecting in the 1960’s. They lived close to Disneyland and went there often. His sister was in line for the Matterhorn Bobsleds and the attendant told her she probably shouldn’t go on the ride. She looked at him and told him she had been riding this ride since the park opened in the 50’s and she was sure she could handle riding that ride now.
Loren and Karen are wearing thrift store finds that are true vintage dresses.
Accessories are always a huge part of any outfit. Look closely at all of the hats and handbags. Then move your attention to gloves, fans, hair accessories, necklaces, shoes and ruffled socks, and finally the parasols. Parasols were a very necessary item to keep the sun off and the heat lower on this day.
Details are so important. A pretty dress draws the first attention, but then as you take in all of the details that each lady has added to her outfit, you see how it all works together to make a complete outfit. You’ll see below, necklaces, earrings, sunglasses with extra embellishments, a decorative hand fan, a classic hat with a flower added under the brim rather than on top, gloves with a bow on the cuff, a vintage purse with flower petals lining the closure, and of course, classic hair styles and makeup. They all add to the overall perfect look.

Entire families attend Dapper Day together, and color coordinate their outfits. It is such a fun time to celebrate a fashionable lifestyle.
No, that’s not Marilyn Monroe. It’s our friend Kirstie who is always the epitome of glamour. She creates many of her own outfits and styles her own hair and makeup.
Joanie and I found an old umbrella in a thrift store. We decided to take it apart and recover it to work with the outfit. Of course, then we didn’t want the underside to look unfinished, so we lined it as well, and then added lacy ruffled trim on the outside. It works well for the movie star Joan in her period costume. Of course, the up and coming starlet, Anna, saw it and had to put her spin on how it should be held and shown off. She manages to be in the spotlight as often as possible and upstage the older actress if at all possible.
Such pretty young ladies, looking all prim and proper for the day’s outing.
Oh, wait! Did the photographer forget to get them set up properly before he took the shot?
Where is the mother of this girl on the right? Didn’t she ever teach her and her friends to behave like ladies in public?
Jason always carries an umbrella to shield himself from the harsh sun.
Dawn is looking so period perfect with her dress with the contrasting collar and cuffs. The hat and pearls complete the look.
Brad is always the perfect example of how to put a look together. He has every detail covered, down to the butterflies on his hat band.
Maria is another one who’s whole family attended Dapper Day, but somehow we missed them in the photo.
Jacqueline Quinto looking like she stepped right out of a 1950’s fashion magazine.
Jessica makes the most amazing period clothing! She gets down to the finest detail to make each outfit look perfect. And she often travels with her parents, who also dress in perfect period clothing. This spring her father had shoulder surgery so they couldn’t attend, but I’m sure we’ll see them again in the future. Check out her shoes!
Will and Patty live in our neighborhood. Their tropical look was perfect for such a hot day. You can see that even her parasol had the tropical theme.
Millie and Logan. Millie made their outfits, and her dress was amazing. It was all hand applied flowers under a net overskirt.
We all gathered for photos as people came into the park. Some of them are on the right side of the street and some are on the left side of the street. So you might hear Ray yelling on main street sometime. Not yelling at you unless we know you.

Sean Neumeyer is a photographer that makes his pictures for Dapper Day come alive with color. We know Sean and love his work. You can check his photos out on Facebook. We just know you will love them.
John, Sherri and Baxter. Sherri also takes great photos. You will see her work in some pages below on this site.
